Bromyard History Society - Bromyard and District Local History Society is based in Bromyard, Herefordshire, England, and was founded in 1966. It exists to foster interest, enjoyment, research and publication in the field of our local history.
We offer members a varied programme of events, at least monthly, throughout the year.
Bromyard Hop Festival - In September 2011 Bromyard held its first Hop Festival and this was such a success it has now been added permanently to the town’s calendar and was repeated in 2012 on the 1st of September. This featured the unique event - the Hop Pocket World Championship, part of a full day’s programme of events.
Bromyard Christmas Lights - Bromyard is a very special place all year round but never more so than at Christmas when the main streets are festooned with strings of lights for the town’s fabled Christmas Illuminations, reputed to be the best display in Herefordshire.
A Hot Day In August - A Hot Day In August is an entertaining day out for the family at beautiful Moors Meadow in the unspoilt Herefordshire countryside north of Bromyard. Live acoustic music features in one area with a range of local performers attending. Various stalls offer food and drink, craft items and there is a display of blacksmithing in the forge, as well as a Ladybird Hunt for the children.
Bromyard Gala - Every year at the beginning of July, a quiet corner of beautiful Herefordshire parkland is transformed into the county’s largest outdoor show. The Gala is a combination of old country show and rally of steam engines and vintage vehicles which has developed in its 44 year history into one of the most popular events in the summer calendar, with something for every member of the family.
